When you think about how an armoire was originally intended to be used, only one purpose comes to mind, clothing storage. Now the possibilities are many.
One idea is to convert that antique armoire into an amazing and functioning bar for your living room or family room. Install a mirror in the interior with some glass shelves to show off those beautiful martini and champagne glasses. Adding a granite or quartz shelf will provide a durable and attractive work surface. One could go all out and install a small refrigerator/beverage center to complete the bar.
Antique armoires add a beautiful focal point at the end of a hallway, especially if the lighting enhances the piece.
These armoires make useful and beautiful additions to bathrooms or dressing rooms by visually breaking up the look of the standard cabinetry. If they have glass doors, what a nice way to show off some pretty bath accessories!
Another interesting use for the armoire is as a “drop zone” for electronics in a mud room or a kitchen. What a great way to hide baskets for the caps, scarves and gloves and all those boots and tennis shoes.
Even though the size of televisions have grown, there are still some amazing, large armoires that can handle larger televisions. Not everyone wants or needs to see the large screen all the time.
Finally, if you need additional clothing storage they still fill that need!
